ABOUT THE GAME

The plane below the stars

Astraveler blends platforming with twin-stick shooting on a dreamlike journey through the "lower-astral plane." You cast spells with the mouse while walking and flying (Aether Drift) across the screen, descending ever deeper into procedurally generated temples.

Along the way: different staves, relics with synergies between them, shrines to tend, and four bosses with unique attack patterns, culminating in the Mirror Wizard at the bottom of the temple. Dying isn't the end. Your astral form just "dissipates back to the journal," where you spend Stardust to unlock permanent upgrades.

HOW TO PLAY

Controls

A/D or arrows: walk · W/up (hold): Aether Drift (flight, consumes Mana) · mouse: aim · left click: primary missile · right click: secondary spell (swap with the mouse wheel or keys 1-5) · Space: synergy ability (once unlocked) · E: interact with a shrine · P/Esc: pause. Controller is also auto-detected.

TECH SHEET

Credits

Born as a single-file prototype, now modularized and re-engineered with its own architecture (object pools, event bus, dependency registry). Code, art, and audio 100% original.

NOTE FROM IDEABOB

Why I made this

Astraveler started small, a one-session prototype, and kept growing until it became the most "engineering-heavy" project in my portfolio: dozens of modules, automated tests, documented architecture decisions. Underneath it all, though, it's still about that feeling of falling into a strange, beautiful dream and not quite knowing what's waiting for you down there.
